Meet Our Founder
Jason Junkins, MD
Dr. Jason Junkins is the founder of Southern Immediate Care (SIC), a leading urgent care network dedicated to providing fast, convenient, and compassionate healthcare across Alabama. A native of Centre, Alabama, Dr. Junkins earned his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville State University before completing his medical degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his internship and residency in combined internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
With a passion for improving access to healthcare, Dr. Junkins opened the first Southern Immediate Care clinic in Anniston with a simple but impactful mission: to offer patients a quality alternative to long emergency room wait times and the high costs often associated with ER visits. Under his leadership and vision, SIC has grown from a single clinic into nine urgent care locations, one occupational medicine location, and one psychology location serving communities throughout Alabama. In 2025, SIC acquired five urgent care locations in New Orleans.
Dr. Junkins believes healthcare should be accessible, efficient, and centered around the needs of patients and families. His entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to innovation continue to shape the growth and success of Southern Immediate Care. He is always seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth and believes his journey in urgent care is part of a greater purpose and destiny to serve communities through accessible healthcare.
Outside of medicine and business, Dr. Junkins enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Angela, are proud parents of five children and grandparents to three grandchildren.
